Community, family, groups and social harmony, conservative values, native language


2. what political policies/issues are particularly important to this demographic in this election? why?
Abortion, gay marriage, taxes and education are particularly important to hispanic americans. According to 2005 statistics, 77% oppose abortion, 62% oppose gay marriage, and 48% think that lowering taxes would be the most helpful for the government. Bright colors (relating to mexican culture) and bright decor is one reference to hispanic american culture. Decoration in general is important in hispanic american culture. Another reference would be the salsa, latin, hispanic music ranging from Selena to Ricky Martin to Santana. Family and closeness is valued highly in hispanic american culture. Citizenship and residency requirements, voter registration problems, illness, not interested, and didn't like the candidates.
